The Institutions Services Division protects the public by operating safe, humane, and cost-effective facilities for youth in the juvenile justice system. The Division provides custody and programming designed to help youth make positive and healthy choices when they return to their communities.

The Division operates three residential options for court-involved youth:

  • Youth Services Center (located in the Youth Services Center)
  • Camp Glenwood (Boys’ Camp)
  • GIRLS Program (Girls’ Camp)

These facilities are operated in compliance with California Corrections Standard Authority regulations and according to best practices in juvenile corrections.

In addition to the three residential options, the Division directs the Community Care Program, in which youth serve part of their custody time by working on weekend projects. Finally, staff of the Division assist in supervision of youth in the San Mateo County Office of Education’s Community Schools.
